Stenopelmatidae, commonly known as Jerusalem crickets or sand crickets, are a family of large, flightless insects belonging to the order Orthoptera. They are typically found in arid regions of North America. Jerusalem crickets have a robust body with a large head and powerful jaws, which they use to feed on plant material and occasionally small insects. Despite their intimidating appearance, they are generally harmless to humans.
