Lytta auriculata, commonly known as the earwig beetle, is a small insect belonging to the family Meloidae. It is characterized by its elongated body, measuring around 10-15 millimeters in length, and its distinctive ear-like projections on the pronotum. This species is typically found in temperate regions, where it feeds on plant matter and occasionally scavenges on dead insects. Despite its name, the earwig beetle does not possess the pincers commonly associated with earwigs.
