Pepsis thisbe, commonly known as the Tarantula Hawk, is a large and impressive insect found in the southwestern United States and Mexico. The females of this species are known for their unique hunting behavior, as they seek out and paralyze tarantulas to use as hosts for their eggs. With a wingspan of up to 4 inches, Pepsis thisbe is known for its striking black and orange coloration, making it easily recognizable in its habitat. Despite its intimidating appearance, the Tarantula Hawk is not aggressive towards humans unless provoked.
