Ellychnia californica, commonly known as the California glowworm, is a species of beetle belonging to the family Phengodidae. These insects are found in the coastal regions of California, primarily in sandy habitats. Adult glowworms are small, measuring around 1 centimeter in length, and possess bioluminescent organs on their abdomen, which emit a greenish glow during the night.
